Become a member of a design and build team to develop and implement a Unified Communications solution for Secure Client. The main objective is to modernize the current IT and migrate the customer end-users to a new architecture. As engineer you will work with the other developers, each working on their specialism and integrate the solution and make it fit for purpose.
Werkzaamheden / Activities
You will be responsible for design and develop a solution to automate the provisioning and deployment of the technical components of the UC solution. This will be done in conjunction with the responsible engineers of the IaaS layer. Main objective is to have a zero-touch deployment of the services into different areas. Besides that, it must be possible to enable the usage of the applications. That will be done via provisioning through a service portal (Service Now)
You frequently dream about scripting and sequencing of the applications with tools like Ansible, Puppet and Terraforms and you’re willing to bring it to a professional level in which these applications are deployable with a mouse click and that the configuration can be customized and loaded fully automatically. Even testing of the results will be done preferably fully automated. Your main goal is to sanitize the human interventions. As soon as you look around and see nobody, then either you forgot to shower, or you have succeeded in your mission.
You won’t be alone during the development phase. Paperwork is a must; however, this needs to be supported by technical implementation on the development and test environment. This environment will be your sprout, and the place to integrate with your peers. This requires practical knowledge of CI-CD pipelines and virtualization techniques. As soon as functions are technically working, they will be brought to the testers in the team. The testers will torture your creation and come with findings or with cake. It is your task to solve those findings and bring the product to 100% within specifications. One more reason to also automate the testing, however there will be no cake.
You will support you colleague team members where you can, they will treat you the same!
As you have reached the 100% state, there is no time to rest. Either you will work on the next increment, or you will work on the documentation for the support organization.
